Sound Division nominated installer of the year in National BEDA Awards
Audio-visual contracting and entertainment service specialists Sound Division have just been nominated Installer of the Year in the prestigious National BEDA Awards for their AV installation in what has become something of an icon on the London bar/club scene, Lonsdale House. The National BEDA Awards traditionally recognize the best individuals, venues and products in the industry, and this year, for the first time, has created a brand new category to honour installers.
The brainchild and creation of owner Charles Breeden, Lonsdale House has become a veritable Mecca for connoisseurs of high-class, high-octane London nightlife. Boasting sumptuous yet modern design from Fusion architects, Breedan was equally clear that he wanted the best in terms of his audio-visual installation. He chose Sound Division as a direct result of the work the company had done in top London restaurant, Momo. "I'm a huge fan of Momo," he stated. "I love everything about it. Indeed, I chose the architects partly on the basis of the work they had done there, and the same goes for the audio-visual contractor. The Sound Division Group was responsible for the installation at Momo, which I greatly admire, so they seemed to be the natural choice to supply the audio for Lonsdale House."
Lonsdale HouseSound Division managing director David Graham is very pleased with the nomination. “I feel that it’s a great achievement for Sound Division,” he stated. “We’ve made a conscious effort over the last two year to focus our energies on the London contracting market, and we are fortunate to be able to count a number of very prestigious and high-profile venues as our clients, including Lonsdale House. And clearly we must be doing something right, because the more we do, the more we are asked to do, which is exactly the result we’d hoped for. On top of that, to be nominated for the national BEDA Awards is great, and I’m proud of the team here that has helped us to achieve such recognition.”
The system at Lonsdale House is a sophisticated Crown-powered Turbosound system throughout based on the Turbosound QLight range of compact loudspeakers with TSC compact sub-woofers controlled via two BSS Soundweb devices. Spread over three floors, Sound Division has treated each area as a separate entity and has designed the system utilising CAT5 cabling throughout so that any music source can be routed to any area. As a result the system is extremely flexible, yet works very well as a whole if that is what is required. Most of the time it just ticks over comfortably, but there is enough headroom to turn it up to club levels if needed. The DJ area is also extremely well equipped with and Allen & Heath Xone 62 mixer, Technics turntables and Pioneer CD players. Sound Division has also supplied a large video screen and Sanyo projector to complete the AV package in the upstairs lounge bar area.
