Mahiki launch Hawaii swimwear with Sound Division
When Mayfair club, Mahiki, launched its exclusive, Hawaiian-inspired swimwear collection at the Quiksilver Regent Street flagship store on July 13th 2010, SoundDivision were called upon to supply a full DJ set up and sound system for well known club DJ, Tommy Crane, boyfriend of Girls Aloud singer, Sarah Harding.
Mahiki had recently teamed up with surfwear brands, Quiksilver and Roxy to launch their exclusive instore range, which includes Mahiki Swim by Quiksilver boardshorts and Roxy bikini, both featuring an unique print featuring the Mahiki Tiki emblem.
SoundDivision built a DJ booth on the mezzanine level, installing a pair of Pioneer CDJ1000Mk3 CD players and Pioneer DJM800 Mixer for the set by Tommy. A JBL SRX two way sound system was ground stacked, including DJ monitoring for the booth, and additional sound to cover the store ground floor fed to a pair of JBL satellite speakers.
The event featured a pop-up Mahiki Rum shack and live window models with a promo giveaway of a free bottle of Mahiki Rum for the first 30 people to buy from the Mahiki Swim range. Roxy UK rider Sophie Hellyer and Quiksilver UK rider, Toby Donachie, were also in attendance, along with the "friends of Mahiki" who helped keep the dancefloor busy all night.
SoundDivision’s David Graham was delighted his company had been asked to assist on the high profile instore launch event - one of their niche speciality services. “The sound level was just right, allowing for social interactivity throughout the store, and creating a party atmosphere - Tommy played a great set!”
