Sound Division's ‘Perfect’ System Install at Isola Bella, Westfield, London
The opening at White City of the £1.6 billion landmark Westfield London on 30 October 2008, saw the unveiling of the largest shopping centre ever to be built in Greater London. Boasting a retail floor area the equivalent of 30 football pitches, it is also the UK's third largest shopping centre, complete with over 265 speciality outlets and the presence of a unique, high-end retail area, The Village, offering exclusive, luxury labels, including Versace, Burberry, De Beers, Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
Westfield signed an eclectic mix of new diners and restaurants for its latest retail concept near the BBC Centre, Wood Lane, including from summer 2010, Isola Bella, the centre's first fully kosher, specialist boutique restaurant and cafe, offering Thai, Italian and Sushi cuisine.
Located on Level One, opposite House of Fraser and Ted Baker, Isola Bella at Westfield, with in-house bakery and takeaway service, is intended as a flagship venue in their firmly established, north west London restaurant chain.
A carefully coordinated, post-modernist concept deftly mixes traditional warm beech with cool aluminium, plexiglass, rich hued, pattern furnishings and digital hi-tech lighting in a harmonised palette within individual areas, comprising main restaurant, bar and VIP dining.
It was into these specifically crafted, ambient spaces that Sound Division was to asked to specify and install a discreet background music system with precise sound level control for each separate zone. A series of JBL Control 1 Pro compact speakers were wall-mounted across the entire L-shaped venue perimeter enclosure spanning four distinct zones, including Control 26C flush ceiling mount speakers.
Individual zone control is supplied by an extremely simple to use Cloud CX163, designed for leisure, licensed and retail venues. Individual zone volume is remotely handled by a trio of Cloud RL-1 Control Panels strategically mounted at key vantage points within the bar and main restaurant area, adjacent to a Pure powered iPod docking station. A further iPod connection facility is also made available for VIP room use.
Isola Bella joint owners, Eli Moses and Leor Nissim, were more than impressed with the results. "Our desire was to have a discreet background music system in keeping with our style of decor but with a distinct, yet warm sound we could control to any level and not lose clarity. Sound Division gave us the perfect system and the iPods have been on constant play ever since!"
Sound Division's MD, David Graham was obviously delighted, "We have successfully installed countless numbers of music sound systems in all types of venues over the years yet we always view every new project with anticipation and a great sense of satisfaction when the client is really pleased with the result."
