Zoned sound for first London branch of international ramen chain
Ippudo began its international Japanese ramen chain in 1985 and now has 120 branches in 13 countries, from China and Singapore to New York and Sydney.
In October 2014, Ippudo launched its “true and authentic ramen” concept for the first time in the UK at London Central St Giles, off Tottenham Court Road. A modern, clean-lined space set behind a wall of polished glass and metal, Ippudo is a “no reservation” diner with covers for 80, and is kept busy serving the popular, Japanese noodle broth.
A music system for the shape and layout
Sound Division - who was found online by the group and chosen on the strength of its considerable portfolio - was asked to specify a music system for the shape and layout of the space, including a very high ceiling and mezzanine.
To provide a smooth even coverage of good quality sound reproduction across all areas, a combination of JBL Control 25AV cabinet speakers and JBL 24CT Flush ceiling speakers were specified and installed into various sections of the restaurant.
A Cloud Z4 zoning mixer and a CX-A6 zoning amplifier were installed into the existing IT rack cabinet located in the Managers office and a pair of Cloud remote volume controls – one each for the Ground floor and Mezzanine - was installed into the Greeting Counter at the entrance.
Assistant project Manager Swann Pere for Ippudo London, said: “We are really pleased with the music system Sound Division installed for our first Flagship site. It has been a pleasure dealing with David and his team – they did a good job and also helped us with the technical production for the official restaurant opening. They were professional to deal with and met all our requirements - in particular meeting the strict deadline for our opening.”
Ippudo has ventured further into the capital with a second branch now open at Crossrail Terminal, Canary Wharf.
